Rogers is getting scared

Tuesday, July 6, 2010
The Big Bad Red of the Canadian wireless world is already beginning its fight against WIND and other new entrants into the marketplace. Rogers has officially announced it is launching a third wireless brand to join their existing two brands (Rogers and Fido), this time targeting the same customers as WIND Mobile. They're calling this new company "Chatr Wireless" and it will be offering unlimited talk and text in the exact same five cities that WIND is currently operating in. Coincidence? Not a chance. Hilariously obvious? Definitely.

This is a slap in the face to all customers already on Rogers and Fido since those customers will not have access to the cheap unlimited plans. Clearly Rogers does not want to lose the high-revenue smartphone users on the two main brands. Chatr will not be offering data plans, so don't even think about bringing your Blackberry, iPhone, or Android phone over there. Forget smartphones altogether, actually. Smooth Rogers, smooth. We're not falling for it! And once everyone finds out who's running Chatr, g'luck with that. :)

And what exactly is wrong with rogers launching a new company? it targets a totally different clientele... unlike public mobile and wind ( whose network sucks), chatr gives you an extremely reliable network for a low monthly fee. i think its a good thing for consumers if anything...

Because they can price match with the Rogers brand or the Fido brand. Only in Canada can a company create a *third* brand (with coverage *only* in "select" areas, same as WIND's exactly, but lock out the smartphone/data "high-revenue" users) rather than compete directly by lowering prices for existing Cx.

Competition, Rogers-style, is not competition at all. They created CHATR so they don't actually have to compete. Period.

I urge all 8 million existing Fido and Rogers customers to dial 611 and demand they get Chatr pricing on their existing accounts. It's all the same network. Either that or take it up the ass by letting Rogers continue to rip you off...your choice.

Or switch to WIND and just lol at everyone else hahaha.

...and as expected, Bell re-launched Solo Mobile with exact carbon copies of WIND plans and coverage...LOL.
